''The Poverty Myth''
D.C. trip T.H.U.G.
reader's workshop
H.W. make sure you complete your book project
We started the day off by Leila reading her blog, and of course, she has to choose me. Then, Ms. Nakada passed out D.C. field trip flyers and went over it. She said after, to take out our reading journals and go to the reading record. After, Ms. Nakada gave us an article and told us to read it. Kane was annoying me and telling me to choose him over and over again. Anyways, we had to underline and ask questions about the text. The story is about a girl who is treated badly and about the myth that poor students can't achieve academically. Then, the text talks about low income schools. Next, Ms. Nakada told us to pass the papers clockwise and read what they wrote and answer their questions. After we went clockwise a couple of times, she asked us questions like, ''What was the text about?'' Then, Ms. Nakada told us to pack up our stuff. Finally, the bell rang and we went to lunch.
